Vale Chris Scott

Chris Scott, a member of our refereeing community since 2011, passed away recently at 52 after a 21 month cancer battle.

NRF's thoughts are with Chris's wife Fleur and children Caitlin and Hayden.

"Chris embodied the best values of our referees, working his way up, giving back to the community and other referees. He always had time for others, and will be remembered as a kind, caring nice guy whose family was very important to him. Chris even refereed when he could over the last two years as his health allowed," said Beth Rattray, NRF Education Officer – Community Officials.

Papakura City paid tribute to Chris, posting: "It is with great sadness that we learned that Chris Scott, a previous PCFC volunteer, committee member, coach, referee and so much more has passed away yesterday after a courageous battle with cancer.  To the wider Papakura community who may not have known, Chris, Fleur & the family ran the Monday night kids summer soccer for many years also. Our thoughts are with Fleur, Caitlin & Hayden at this heartbreaking time. Rest in peace Chris 🕯"

A funeral service to celebrate Chris's life will be held at Manukau Memorial Gardens, 361 Puhinui Road, Wiri, Auckland on Tuesday 30th January at 11am with light refreshments served afterwards. Wear colours to help celebrate Chris's life, it is what he wanted.
