NRF Intermediate Schools Futsal Competitions 2024

Northern Region Football is excited to be able to offer Futsal as structured leagues by region in Auckland to represent the sports tremendous growth and popularity over the past few years in the Secondary School sports landscape. Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in Secondary School aged participants in New Zealand. In 2016, Futsal had over 300% growth in Secondary School aged participation, and as of 2022 has risen to the 10th most participated sport for students of this age.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

NRF Intermediate Schools Futsal Festival 2024

Wednesday 14th August - Auckland Netball Centre

​​​​​​​In conjunction with Sport Auckland, NRF are delivering a one-day Futsal Festival for Intermediate Schools in the Central Auckland area. This futsal festival will be ideal preparation for the Zespri AIMS Games taking place in Tauranga on 7th September (see below for more information).

​​​​​​​The festival will emulate the format of AIMS Games and provide an opportunity for teams to play in a low-risk and fun environment, weeks prior to heading down to Tauranga. However, this opportunity is not limited to schools attending AIMS Games and is open to participants who want to give futsal a go.


Festival Format:

  • Guaranteed 3x matches
  • Randomised fixturing
  • No standings or results published


Match Format:

  • 2x 12min halves
  • 2min half time

Zespri AIMS Games 2024

Saturday 7th September - Mercury Arena, Tauranga

​​​​​​​The Zespri AIMS Games is Australasia’s largest junior sporting event, held annually in Tauranga Moana. Celebrating diversity, the Games provides an opportunity for adolescents from all demographics and education contexts to compete in sporting competitions, to meet others from outside their normal peer group, and to learn and build on their social interaction skills.

The Zespri AIMS Games is highly regarded by national education and sporting organisations and is considered a leader in its area.


Competition Dates: Saturday 7th September - Wednesday 11th September, 2024

Deadline for Registrations: Wednesday 5th June, 2024
