APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN TO BECOME A PROVIDER OF THE MILO FANTAILS PROGRAMME IN 2026!

Applications are welcomed from any club that meet our Milo Fantails programme criteria.  We want to ensure there is access and opportunity for every girl to be involved in our sport, and for the game to be truly representative of our society. Why Should I Become a Milo Fantails Provider?

Milo Fantails is a great opportunity to welcome new girls aged 4 to 13 into the game, and we want to retain and grow these opportunities as much as possible!
Fantails provides specific online training to hub staff, on-going support, branded equipment, and funding to get you started.

What do new Milo Fantails providers receive?

To help deliver your Milo Fantails sessions you will receive:

  • $500 + GST start-up fee after first term delivery.


  • If the hub meets all criteria and shows they exceed 36 participants per term (minimum of two terms) they are eligible for a further $1000 + GST (via the relevant Federation) subject to the hub providing all required information to Federation.


  • Milo Fantails branded kit and equipment – 40 footballs, 40 bibs,  4 mini goals, 8 Staff T-shirt's. 


  • Online training through NZF Learn – it is MANDATORY that the hub coordinator and coaches delivering on the programme must complete the online modules


  • Promotional assets to help you market the programme to your community


  • Promotion through New Zealand Football and Federation on a termly basis

What information is required to apply to be a Milo Fantails hub?

The Milo Fantails Application Form will ask for the following information:

  •  Co-Ordinator Details: The first step is information about you, the main organiser/applicant.
  •  Club Details: This is where you can input what the provider is called, where it is, its address and contact information, and what federation you are linked with. 
  • Hub Information: Next up are some further details about your hub including:
    • Will you deliver Futsal or Football?
    • What day will you be running? Remember that you will need to deliver 16 weeks' worth of sessions in the year you apply for. 
    • Fill in what you want you wish to be known as on the NZF online map. 
  •  Sustainability & Accessibility: This part of the application is the chance for you to explain why you want to become a Fantails hub and all the reasons you're going to 'provide' a great set of football sessions to the young girls who turn up!
    • How much are you going to charge per session? Cost per session needs to be no more than $5.


    What do Milo Fantails hubs need to deliver?

    For a full list of hub criteria, please see the Application Information Pack .  Some of the key delivery criteria is outlined below:

    • At least 1 weekly session, for a minimum of 16 weeks total throughout the calendar year (can be split into smaller blocks e.g. 2 x 8 week blocks).


    • Offer at least 2 age groups, with a minimum of 12 girls per age group
      • 4-7 year olds (First Kicks)
      • 8-9 year olds (Fun Football / Futsal)
      • 10-13 year olds (Mini Football / Futsal)


    • Host the sessions in an appropriate facility with toilets and changing rooms

    • Coaches must meet the following criteria:
      • Hub Lead – at least a Junior Level 2 coaching accreditation
      • Hub Coaches – at least a Junior Level 1 coaching accreditation
      • At least 1 female coach in the coaching team
      • Enough coaches for a 1:12 coach to player ratio. 1:8 is recommended for younger players.
      • All coaches over 18 years old must be police vetted​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

    What happens after I have submitted an application?

    Think about the following things when writing your application:

    • Geographical spread: Is there currently a Milo Fantails provider nearby? Are we better to connect and work together with another club?
    • Girls Football Pathway : Do we have a suitable pathway for participants to transition in & out of the program?
    • Coaches: Do we have capacity to support female coaches delivering the program?
    • Attracting Participants: What initiatives will we deliver to attract to participants to the program?

    If you're happy with everything,  go ahead and submit your application. This will go straight through to NZF who will review alongside your local federation.

    Together we will decide whether you have been successful or not or send it back to you for any clarifications we might need.
