Knockout Cup Competitions

NRF offer Community Knockout competitions as an additonal competition level.

Knockout competitions offer teams across the region the opportunity to play teams they would not normally come across in the league competitions.

Each of the knockout competitions are has up to 32 teams. Teams that lose the first round move to the plate competition of that cup ensuring all teams that enter knockout cups are guaranteed 2 knockout cups games.

The culmination of the knockout competitions is a Senior Festival of Football played at one venue over the final weekend of the season proper.

Teams who play in the finals have the opportunity to receive official referees - some teams may not see an offical referee throughout the season and this then takes away the challenge of each team refereeing a half of the match each and means they can enjoy the occaision.

A highlight of the finals is the presentation ceremony which takes place at the concludion of each match where the trophies are handed over, players' of the match are recognised and photo opportunites are provided.

The Stafford Choat Knockout & Christina Taylor knockout cup Competitions are played in conjunction with the NRF Knockout Competitions within the Northland region.  The Stafford Choat Knockout competition and the Christina Taylor Women's Knockout recognises longstanding and valuable past members of the NRF organisation.

The winners of each of the Auckland based knockout competitions and the Northland knockout competitions play one another at the beginning of the following season for the Terry Hobin Cup (Men) and the Dave Alabaster Cup (Women).
