Here's what you need to know from an action-packed weekend of football.

Chatham Cup quarter-finals results

A last-minute free-kick goal from Francis De Vries (118') saw Eastern Suburbs overcome Wellington Olympic in extra time. Northern League side Hamilton Wanderers fell to Christchurch United. Melville United's Jerson Lagos Giraldo 50th minute effort was enough to overcome Western Springs, who in the previous round knocked out Auckland City.

The LOTTO NRFL Womens Premiership may have only had one game this weekend but Western Springs used it as an opportunity to make a statement and qualify for the national league.

All top three teams this weekend in the LOTTO NRFL Women's Championship gained victory.

Franklin United's Jacqueline David (70') and Brenna Yuksel (57') saw the team overcome Central United this weekend, and now only sit three points off the top of the table. They face Onehunga Sports this weekend at home and will be looking to flip the scoreline (4-1 loss) from their previous encounter.

Birkenhead United have gone five points clear at the top of the NRF Women's Conference after their victory over Metro this weekend.  Their three goals came from Wilma Nilsson (45'), Charlotte England (63') and Madeleine Scott (85'). Metro's only reply was through Mickey Buckley in the 72nd minute.

Tauranga City moved into second place and overcame league leaders East Coast Bays this weekend, through the help of Jonty Bidois's (4', 60') double.

Mt Albert Ponsonby and Ngaruawahia United both held each other to a draw, with last-minute goals from both teams. Ngaruawahia United scored in the 88th minute through Roussin Nkoy but was quickly counted by Mt Albert Ponsonby's Thomas Boss's (89') effort.

Franklin United's undefeated streak continued as they put three past Oratia United. Top of the table Bucklands Beach also gained all three points this weekend from a trip to Northland. Both teams will go head-to-head this Wednesday night in an important game which may just end up deciding the champions come the end of the season.

The points keep rolling for the teams at the top of the table as Waikato Unicol and Cambridge both picked up wins. 

Taupo will be looking to the future as they were held level in a scoreless draw by Te Awamutu. Taupos' next two games are against the leading pack Cambridge and  Waikato Unicol.

Both teams at the top of the table, South Auckland Rangers and Te Atatu came out with victories against opposition who would have been itching to play a part in upsetting the league leaders. Ranui Swanson was able to grab their first win of the season against Uni-Mount Bohemian.
