100 plus junior football teams from across Northland came together in Whangārei for this year’s Aimee Lindsay Festival, a special celebration of community and the beautiful game.
Named in memory of Aimee Lindsay, a passionate and talented young footballer who tragically passed away several years ago, the festival was created to honour her love of the game and bring players, families, and clubs together at the end of each season.
“The Aimee Lindsay Festival is such a great way for our Northland community to connect,” said James Coleman, NRF Northland Team Leader. “We’ve got teams here from across the region, from Kaitaia and Kerikeri to Dargaville and Bream Bay... all enjoying a fantastic day of football.”
Coleman acknowledged the incredible support from the local football community, particularly Tikipunga Football Club for hosting, Colthurst Flooring for coming on board as the festival’s principal supporter, and other partners such as Anchor and the Hunger Ball Arena, who added to the fun atmosphere on the day.
Sam Colthurst from Colthurst Flooring said supporting the event was an easy decision.
“We’ve always loved giving back to the community. Supporting children on and off the field builds confidence, gets them outdoors, and helps grow friendships,” he said. “We’re proud to partner with Northern Region Football to help spread that support across Northland.”
