What is the Mana Moana Football Collective?
The Mana Moana Football Collective was created by New Zealand national womens team player Malia Steinmetz to shift the dial for Pasifika girls in football. The Collective was created to build a Va (space) where Pasifika girls can connect, feel seen and use their voices to shape a more inclusive future for football in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The inaugural Pasifika Girls Football Leadership Programme will be delivered in collaboration with Northern Region Football and Pasifika Sisters in Sport. The purpose of the program is to strengthen participation and retention of Pasifika girls in football by creating cultural grounded environments, where they feel they belong and choose to stay. This programme is for girls aged 14 - 17 years old of Pacific descent, who have a passion for football and are aspiring to progress in their football journey as players, coaches and/ or leaders.
