Birkenhead United has become the fourth club in the Northern Region to achieve the Xero Together Stronger Club Accreditation!
For Birkenhead United, this achievement reflects a deliberate focus on ensuring the club’s governance, operations, and systems are match fit for the future. The process was led by Football Administrator Kylie Dalton, who played a pivotal role in coordinating efforts across the club and its Board.
“We are a club that is striving for excellence both on the pitch but also off it. This accreditation gave us something to aim for, ensuring that all our processes, procedures, and policies are match fit for both today and the future”.
Birkenhead described the accreditation journey as structured and achievable, particularly thanks to the user-friendly online portal.
“The process was easy to follow, particularly with the use of the portal and not having to email documents around. Kylie, our Football Administrator, managed the process end-to-end and worked with the rest of the club and Board to put in place any improvements we needed to achieve the accreditation”.

Club President Will Taylor has led a focused effort to strengthen governance and sustainability across recent years, progress that the accreditation now recognises.
“We’ve really worked hard to improve our governance and set the club on the path to sustainability and excellence in all areas.”
For clubs considering embarking on the Xero Together Stronger journey, Birkenhead United’s advice is clear: it’s worth it!
“This is very worthwhile as it guides you to make improvements in areas you may not have thought of and ensures you have strong foundations in place in the governance and operations of the club.”
“Our club has a long and rich history and has experienced dramatic growth in members over the last few years. This programme helped us recognise that the way we operated when we were half the size was not sustainable for the future and needed to be refreshed and made match fit, protecting the club for years to come.”
Congratulations, Birkenhead United, on becoming the fourth club in the region to complete the Xero Together Stronger accreditation. This achievement reflects the club’s commitment to strong governance, long-term sustainability, and a thriving football community.
